Let’s start with a short introduction: in the 1990s in the USA, a child therapist who was also a passionate biker couldn’t help an eight-year-old boy who had been through brutal abuse. The child hadn’t left the house in weeks, and traditional therapy wasn’t working. So the therapist gathered about twenty biker friends and rode with them to visit the boy. For the first time in weeks, the boy stepped outside… and before the visit was over, he had made friends with the scary-looking bikers… After a few more visits like that, the boy returned to his normal activities, once again enjoying his childhood together with kids his age. That, in short, is how the idea was born that gave rise to two motorcycle clubs, which today have hundreds of members and chapters practically all over the world. (We’ve written about these clubs on our portal – you’ll find more info in the Articles section).
For over 30 years, they’ve been helping abused children get back to normal life, offering all kinds of support, protection and brotherhood. Every child they take under their wing gets their own biker vest with patches and a club road name, becoming a full member of the family. Perhaps the most moving sight is the club brothers – dozens of bikers gathered in front of the home of a child who is afraid to fall asleep because their adult abuser is still free. When the child sees that, and hears a gang of tattooed bikers as big as wardrobes say “You’re one of us, no one will ever hurt you again…”, every bit of fear disappears. These clubs offer something truly unique – being part of a club… It’s in the biker vest, in the brotherhood and in these bikers’ unconventional approach to life that the magic lies… a magic that gives a victim a real, genuine sense of pride and builds a future winner! No wonder – hardly any kid dreams of being a charity’s beneficiary (of course, there’s nothing wrong with that), but how much easier it is to face your problems knowing you’re part of a biker gang, straight out of a movie…
Seeing the fruits of these clubs’ work, and seeing the growing mental health crisis not only among children and teenagers but also among adults, we decided to act in a similar spirit. To motorcycles we added our passion for rock&roll and guitars (the twin subculture of the Rockers), and that’s how the idea for Fear Busters – Pogromcy Strachu – was born. Using our passions, our community and our old-school subcultures, with a true movie-like vibe, we want to be the answer to the prayers of people in crisis. Let’s be honest, the harvest is huge… alcoholism and addictions, domestic violence, bullying, loneliness, financial problems, depression, panic attacks, trauma, and on top of that the crisis of masculinity, femininity, the institution of the family, relationships and so on… one big crisis – filled with a sense of meaninglessness. Add to that the enormous pressure pumped up by corporations, the media and internet trends… and this is where the rock&roll biker attitude comes to the rescue – the attitude that for years let us show the middle finger to everything that hurt us! Bikers and Rockers aren’t ordinary people – they deeply value freedom and independence. They accept being outsiders, staying true to themselves and living proudly no matter what. Their unique approach to life has incredible value, especially for people struggling with all kinds of problems, including psychological ones.
Our mission is to carry this biker spirit of freedom and to bring entertainment to people in crisis. Therapists, doctors, foundations and institutions do amazing work, but in this fight there’s often no room for relaxation and fun, for a moment of escape – that’s our main mission: to support help organizations by bringing entertainment to the people in their care! And on the side, we also want to offer a path to building character and mental resilience – and the biker’s path, especially one who’s part of a club, is a path that teaches exactly that – it’s full of freedom and wild fun, but it also takes patience and humility.
You don’t have to be a biker or a rocker who loves loud music – that’s where we start from, but we understand our passions aren’t for everyone… What we’re about is spreading a spirit that sparks a passion for life… Maybe you prefer cars to motorcycles, maybe planes, maybe you’ll find your path to self-confidence through martial arts training, or maybe something completely different and calmer – our goal is to give you a road and support you along it… a road on which you’ll find your people, your passions, your values and your life! In the end, it’s all about the love of freedom and the fight against whatever enslaves and limits us! You can do that without a motorcycle ;)
To be a Fear Buster, all you have to do is fight and hold on! Every organization means structures and formalities, sometimes legal requirements, time… and it’s the same in our case – anyway – no matter how old you are or who you are, whether you see yourself more as someone we’ll support in the future or as a future member of Fear Busters, we’re inviting you today to our spiritual family of Fear Busters. All it takes is that you fight every day, that you face things head-on and try to help others too. Remember, you’re not alone! We may not know each other, but we’ve walked the same roads, we know what it’s like… If you need to catch a breath, if you need a little courage, for now just think about this: somewhere out there, just like in a movie, a gang of bikers on loud machines – your brothers – is racing toward you… riding to grab your arm and lift you up, to stand shoulder to shoulder with you and fight for you! Brother and Sister – take care! Remember, we are Fear Busters! And you are one of us! We Fight Together!
We’re working hard so that our roads will cross, so we can truly guarantee every spiritual Fear Buster a smile on their face, a good time, and maybe even a real path to change. We ask for your patience and understanding – we want to do this responsibly and well, in consultation with a team of specialists, in cooperation with the appropriate facilities, and in harmony with the motorcycle club community, which is an incredible inspiration for what we do. All of this takes a lot of time and is a huge logistical challenge – but we’re here! And we’re riding forward!
